What we believe

Thanks for taking the time to explore this site and as you work your way around the different sections, you will see there is a great deal happening at our church. We are a vibrant community that is learning to grow in our spiritual faith.

As you read on, the most important point to stress is this:

We do not claim to have all of the answers. In fact, we are searching together to discover what it is like to be a community that is radically in love with God. It is our hope that you too are looking for a place that is authentic, relevant and real.

As you check out our site, we hope you will find the Mission a safe place to search, grow and discover what Christianity is all about. In fact, we hope you will do more than search our site, but rather, visit us this weekend!

A bit about what we believe as Seventh-day Adventists

Seventh-day Adventists are Christians who still keep the seventh day Sabbath of the Ten Commandments - thus we look back to creation, when God rested on the seventh day, but also forward to the second coming of Jesus (that's the 'Adventist' bit in our name). We don't set a date, but we do believe in the Bible promise that Jesus will come again soon.

Like other Christians, we believe in the two great commandments - to love God and also our neighbour. So while trying to lead God-centred lives, we also try to serve the community around us. Seventh-day Adventists run a huge number of medical facilities around the world, a development and relief agency, and are engaged in many other types of service.

Everything we believe has its focus on Jesus Christ the Divine son of God. All we know about Him is found in the Holy Bible, which we believe is inspired by God, and we accept it all as our rule of faith and practice as Christians.

Knowing Him changes our lives totally and starts to make us what God designed us to be in the Garden of Eden.

Accepting Jesus as our saviour gives us His perfect character of righteousness in place of our sin riddled character.

He forgives all our sins when we confess them to Him, because He paid the penalty of death for them on the cross.

Jesus rose from the grave, ascended into heaven and there ministers for us the merits of His sacrifice now.

Jesus promised to come again and take us home with Him. When He comes, all the saints of all ages will be resurrected to life.

Because we love Jesus we seek to serve Him totally and this means we seek to follow all of the ten commandments, which includes Saturday as the seventh day of the week as a day for worship.

We want to serve Jesus to the best of our ability and think we can do it best if we have a healthy life style and do not smoke, drink alcohol or use recreational drugs.

Being committed to Jesus, it seems natural to follow the Bible principle of tithing, so we give ten percent of our earnings to the church.

This world will finally be destroyed by fire and Jesus is going to recreate a new heaven and earth free from sin where we will be with Him forever.

Jesus was baptized in the river Jordan as an example for us, so we believe in baptism by total immersion as the entrance to the church.

We know of nothing better than Jesus.

Proverbs 3: 5-6 This is a great piece of text in the Bible that relates to our journey with God - take 2 minutes to check it out! What does this text say to you? Send us your thoughts and views here.
